Jennifer Lopez and Donnatella Versace are great friends, so, it follows, Jen can often be seen sporting one of the designer’s gorgeous creations. This revealing slashed-to-the-navel number practically launched Jennifer’s career.
Is it just us, or does Sharon Stone get more gorgeous with every year that passes? She’s definitely the silver lining at the International Rendez Vous Cinema Verite 2007 Gala Dinner in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Her tulle-train, crystal-covered gown clings.
Jessica Alba
Jessica steals the show at the 78th Academy Awards in LA in this achingly beautiful lace-embroidered, gold halter-neck gown. If ever there was any doubt that Jessica is one of the most stylish women in the world this, surely, confirms it. (5 March 2006)
Kirsten Dust
For a lady that’s well-known for her rock chick laid-back attitude towards fashion, the beautiful, glamorous V-neck gown Kirten’s sporting at the Rome premiere of Spiderman 3 is something of a different direction.
Mischa Barton
Mischa opts for a slightly strange yet pretty look at the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Awards honours the Versace fashion house in Beverly Hills. We’d usually suggest that split-level remains purely the domain of flats, not fashion.
Drew Barrymore
Drew isn’t a permanent fixture on the red carpet but, when she does make an appearance, she makes sure it’s a glamorous one. The chocolate brown dress she’s wearing at The Perfect Catch film premiere in London is classy yet super-sexy.

Are you ready for the 2008 Spring fashion trends?.Let's take a look what 's the latest in this season.Spring 2008 fashion trends for women offer plenty of feminine cuts and prints, along with a turn back to the 1920s and 1930s with classic lines and simple silhouettes. Bold colors are a fresh take on the usual pastels for spring, and it's the season where bright and eye-popping colors in accessories offer the looks du jour. So here are the top women's fashion trends for Spring 2008
Spring 2008 Women's Fashion Trend: Soft Gray
From jumpsuits to cigar pants, gray is perfectly paired with white, black, and cream pieces this season. Gray and black are perfect for the evening, while gray and white combinations work out great for the office and dressing up for the weekend. Soft gray and light pewter styles are the top picks this season, and can easily be accessorized with black and white handbags and totes.
Spring 2008 Women's Fashion Trend: Cinched Waists
Cinched waists continue to be a top trend this season. Both wide and skinny belts can be used to create this look, and it's most suitable for women who naturally have a long torso. Still, the look can be pulled off by petite women with the right outfit; super-skinny belts worn high around the waist can create a flattering silhouette.
Spring 2008 Women's Fashion Trend: Flowing Florals
Floral prints are perfect for the season, and Spring 2008 draws on chiffon and super-light fabrics for a flowing, Grecian-inspired look. The one-piece styles from Stella McCarney won with this look on the runway, and variations of the look include flowing blouses and tops in both over sized and micro floral prints.
Spring 2008 Women's Fashion Trend: Bright Candy Colors
Eye-popping candy colors are a hot topic this spring, and are making an appearance in handbags and shoes, along with the basic outfit. From bright turquoise to cherry red, a simple outfit turns playful with a rainbow of candy colors.
Spring 2008 Women's Fashion Trend: 1930s Inspired Suits
It's time for a flashback to the ‘30s with the season's lightweight suits and dresses with a masculine touch. Pinstripe jackets paired with a classic beret, as well as black satin suits for a streamlined silhouette, are hot items for spring. Make these pieces more feminine by adding a pair of stilettos, or wear the suit pants with a fitted halter for extra appeal.
Spring 2008 Designer Handbag Trend
Friday, January 18, 2008 Filed under : Luxury Fashion Handbags by chaiLet us see what's the Spring 2008 designer handbag trends that you can carry all through summer.Spring 2008 designer handbag trends include simple black and white frame bags, exotic skins in multicolored form, and eye-catching candy colored handbags that top off any simple ensemble in style. Here are the top designer handbag trends for Spring 2008, straight from the runway:
Spring 2008 Designer Handbag Trend: Oversized Hobo Handbags
The hobo is back this season as a giant, multi-purpose tote instead of the basic carryall. Look for oversized styles that are fit for traveling with, especially in bright and bold hues including yellow, green, red, and bright blue. The Burberry Huxton Studded Hobo is a great example of this trend.
Spring 2008 Handbag Trend: Black and White Frame Bags
Zac Posen led the way in this spring trend with a textured trapezoidal bag with gold accents. Simple and sophisticated, black and white works well with a variety of outfits and will easily become the focal point of your outfit. Pair it up with black, white, or tan sandals, shoes, and ballet flats this spring for a complete look.
Spring 2008 Designer Handbag Trend: Exotic Clutches
Exotic skins continue to be a strong trend this spring, and the lineup includes oversized clutches with removable straps. Take your pick of luxe leather, metallic prints, and glossy patent leather for an eye-catching look this season. The Lauren Merkin Lucy Snake Clutch is made with snake-embossed suede, and available in navy or champagne.
Spring 2008 Designer Handbag Trend: Candy Colored Handbags
Candy colors are a top trend this season with pink, red, yellow, and orange leading the way. Pink is especially popular this spring and summer, and can be found in clutches, totes, hobos, and wallets. Use these pieces as the focal point of your ensemble and balance out the rest of the outfit with either a perfect match, or subdued colors. The Aerin Patent Mini-Satchel in cherry red is a great pick for this trend.
Spring 2008 Designer Handbag Trend: Camel and Black Combinations
This is a surprise color combo for spring since camel and brown are usually reserved for Fall season. Spring 2008 offers a fresh spin on this combination with weekender bags, oversized clutches, and even minaudieres decked out in these simple hues. Look for chic white piping for a sophisticated and clean-cut look. The Fendi Multicolor Spy Bag captured this trend for Fall, and continues into Spring this year.
Spring 2008 Designer Handbag Trend: Crocodile Tapestries
Multicolored crocodile skin bags add a playful touch to an otherwise super-sophisticated look, and Dolce & Gabbana led the way with this look over Fashion Week in September. Take your pick from bold colors with snkaeskin and crocodile blends, or just a multicolored croc in a bowler or oversized tote. The season's top color choices include pink/brown, camel/black, black/white, and red/orange.

YSL- History
Tuesday, January 15, 2008 Filed under : Brand History, handbags, Luxury Designers Clothing, Yves Saint Laurent by chaiYves Saint Laurent was the first Couture house to launch, in 1966, the modern concept of luxury women's prêt-à-porter, in a collection called « Rive Gauche ». It was followed in 1969 by a « Rive Gauche » men's ready-to-wear line. The Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche boutiques were soon opened throughout the world, allowing fashion-conscious working individuals to wear the Yves Saint Laurent designs. This represented the first step in making luxury labels accessible to a wider public.
In 1999, the Gucci Group (the luxury division of the PPR Group) acquired Yves Saint Laurent. Since then the brand has been repositioned at the top end of the luxury goods markets. Under the management of Valérie Hermann, appointed CEO in 2005, and Stefano Pilati, Creative Director since 2004, the brand has renewed the exceptional legacy of its founder while bringing a contemporary approach to its collections, which combine elegance, top-quality fabrics, refined and discreet but recognizable details.
Today Yves Saint Laurent's collections include women's and men's ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, small leather goods, jewellery, scarves, ties and eyewear. They are designed for both modern women who have a keen sense of freedom and follow their instincts with assurance, captivating others with their elegance, as well as men who prefer a nonconformist look and assert the different facets of their personality in a modern and sensitive way.
The Yves Saint Laurent network currently has 63 directly-operated stores, including flagship stores in Paris, New York, London, Milan, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The brand is also present in the most prestigious multi-brand boutiques and department stores in the world.

Friday, January 11, 2008 Filed under : Celebrities, Fashion News by chaiScarf – Leave of the latest trends in handbags, shoes and other small accessories because the colorful , printed or simply jersey scarves are the next must have accessory in 2008. Lindsay Lohan wearing pink scarf.
Sneakers – Nike and Adidas have been making hip kicks for years, but mainstream fashion brands from Lacoste to Michael Kors are now selling sneakers as casual footwear - and trying to claim a share of the $15 billion market.
See-through Dress – Naked looks are already big trend in 2008.Raincoats, shirts, and blouses made from sheer fabrics such as organza, chiffon and georgette are expected to be a big look for spring. Designers such as Jil Sander, Marc Jacobs and Narciso Rodriguez led the way, but keep an eye out for these so-called "weight watcher" fabrics at trendy stores like H&M and Zara.
Industrial fabrics - High-tech fabrics, such as those with anti-microbial or rubberized properties, are increasingly finding their way onto the runways. Burberry is selling a trench coat made from rubberized materials originally developed for scuba diving. Two hundred dollar T-shirts by a company called Established 1887 are embedded with silver chips that have antimicrobial properties to repel stains and odors. As an added benefit, these fabrics are harder to knock off and so help clothes designers differentiate their stlye from a sea of imitation. Look for more classic, less faddish incarnations of the industrial fabrcis in your wardrobe too, such as a rubberised trench coat from Burberry.
- Tomorrow's hangouts - Up and coming retailers are adding lounges, nail salons and bookshops to their stores in the hopes of luring customers and getting them to stay longer.
Metropark, a City of Industry, Calif.-based chain with 18 stores nationwide, aims to be part club part street boutique. DJs spin records at its stores, which sell hip fashions, off-beat art work and music. SoHo boutique Lounge also has a DJ booth as well as a spa. Deegie's Carma, the brainchild of a former Nordstrom executive, is set to open its first store in Kansas City in March. In addition to racks of trendy, teen worthy clothing, there will be a lounge as well as a hair and nail salon.
Posh - Mr. Blackwell's annual worst-dressed List
Thursday, January 10, 2008 Filed under : Celebrities, Fashion News, Luxury Fashion Handbags, Marc Jacobs Handbags by chai
But with the Hollywood new comer fan of skinny miniskirt Victoria “Posh” Beckham named the worst dressed on Blackwell's annual best and worst list.
Blackwell, an 85-year-old Los Angeles-based former fashion designer, first released his Ten Worst Dressed Women List in 1960, with Queen Elizabeth II, Martha Stewart and Dolly Parton past alumni.
"Forget the fashion spice - wearing a skirt would suffice," Blackwell said in announcing his list.
"In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty Posh can really wreck-em."
Beckham edged out another Brit for the unwanted honour, the drug-troubled, tattooed eyeliner-lover, Amy Winehouse, who was named second worst-dressed woman.
"Exploding beehives above, tacky polka-dots below ... she's part 50's car-hop horror," was how Blackwell summed up Winehouse.
Third on the worst-dressed list was former wonder twin, Mary Kate Olsen, whose style was described as resembling "a tattered toothpick-trapped in a hurricane" and fourth was another songstress, Fergie, who Blackwell said was "couture chaos".
Rounding out the worst top 10 was fifth placed Kelly Clarkson, derided for her "belly-baring bombs", then French Bond girl Eva Green ("Stuck in neon nightmares"), followed by Avril Lavigne ("Gothic make-up courtesy the mad spatula"), Jessica Simpson ("She's a global fashion curse"), Lindsay Lohan ("Fashion frenzy strikes again") and in 10th, former Little House on the Prairie bad girl Alison Arngrim ("Looks like a 1940's fashion editor for the Farmers Almanac").
Last year Britney Spears ("Style-free and fashion deprived") was named worst-dressed, beating out Camilla Parker-Bowles who Blackwell described as resembling a "parakeet from the Jurassic age".
Joining Kidman, Blanchett, Witherspoon, Khan and Jolie on this year's best-dressed list were Beyonce, Helen Mirren, Katie Holmes, Katherine Heigl and Prince William's on-again, off-again girlfriend, Kate Middleton.
Fashion Clothing Designer BALENCIAGA, date of creation: 1937 It is not surprising that Spain has produced a genius like BALENCIAGA, capable of the most daring innovations in a superbly classic style. What is surprising is that this Spaniard became the leading French fashion designer.
His story began something like a legend : born in 1895 in Guetaria, a small fishing village on the Spanish Basque coast, Cristobal BALENCIAGA was still very young when it became apparent that he was destinated for Couture.
At the age of thirteen, he astounded the Marquise of CASA TORRES with his comments on her elegance. Realising his interest in Couture and his aesthetic potential, she allowed him to make a copy of the Haute Couture clothing she was wearing. Trembling, he did his work so well that she awarded him by wearing it.
The following year he travelled to Paris. In a daze, he devoured the collections of DOUCET, WORTH, DRECOLL and others.
Upon his return and at the age of sixteen, he opened his first Couture workshop in San Sebastian, where he adapted the Parisian Style for Spanish women.
In 1915, the first fashion house was opened in San Sebastian under the name BALENCIAGA.
In 1920, the second house opened in Madrid. He left Spain when the civil war broke out and established himself in Paris, where, in August
1937, he opened his showrooms at 10 avenue George V. From the start, a style was created which lived up to its expectations for thirty glorious years. BALENCIAGA himself sums it as follows : a Couturier must be an architect for design, a sculptor for shape, a painter for color, a musician for harmony, and a philosopher for temperance . Year after year, the one they call the couturier of couturiers created astonishment with his collections and the mastery of his cuts. He changed women's silhouettes.
1945 : close-fitting waistlines, square shoulders.
1951 : open necks, wide shoulders, looser
waistlines. All these features created the BALENCIAGA revolution . He also left his imprint on various periods : coasts with wide collars, tunic dresses, sack dresses in the 50's.
He also turned his flair to the creation of prestigious perfumes. This man, whose exceptional talent never tired in its quest to achieve even greater harmony between the body and clothing, always knew that the true sign of elegance, the ultimate refining touch, lay in the subtle, delicate notes of a fragrance.
In 1947, he created his first perfume : LE DIX from the famous couturier's address at 10, avenue George V. Only someone of his quality could be all this at once.
Both a dandy and a recluse, he watched his collections displayed from behind a white curtain, becoming a mythical figure who only a privileged few ever had the pleasure to know. And not out of snobbery or affectation. Such man cares little for the world. Rather the world comes to him, and only the finest at that.
His most faithful clients included : the Queen of Spain, the Queen of Belgium, the Duchess of Windsor, Princess Grace of Monaco, all regularly recognized in the press as the best-dressed women in the world.
On May 12, 1958, he is made Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur . In the late 60's : at 74, after working in Paris for 30 years, he decided to retire and closed his fashion houses in Paris, Barcelona and Madrid, one after the other.
His last public appearance in Paris was for the funeral of Coco Chanel, who once said that BALENCIAGA is the only couturier able to design, cut, assemble and sew a dress together entirely by himself .
On March 24, 1972, the undisputed Master of all the great couturiers - the man who inspired GIVENCHY, UNGARO, SCHERRER, COURREGES and many others - passed away in Valencia.

Jennifer Connelly in Balenciaga 2008 Campaign Ad

The Design
The clothing designer shapes, with their standout shoulder lines, hand-span waists, and belled (almost panniered) hip volume, marched in on vertiginous knee-high woven-leather gladiator boots. "Instead of a put-together thing like last season, I wanted total looks—ensembles, as we say in French," Ghesquière explained, "with graphic volumes like car bodywork. Sports cars!" Each look came with its undulating folds sutured together with curvilinear topstitching, the sculptural surfaces backed with sports-derived foam, and the hems sliced short by a high-tech ultrasound machine. There were dresses and matching "ensembles" articulated as jackets over mini-pelmets, over tiny shorts.
But would this be wearable? What a silly question. If Ghesquière's extreme embroidered "robot" leggings can sell out for squillions of dollars a piece, and last season's jodhpurs, blazers, scarves, and ikat prints can fuel a global industry of knockoffs, what has he left to prove? By the time you read this, the flower-printing mills of the world will have been activated overnight. Even when Ghesquière turns to intensely rich, rarified "explorations" of detail—check the cloisonné bejeweled heels of those boots—there is something so relevant in the execution that it is capable of turning on the fashion fanatics to whom price is no object, while also sending the mass market into overdrive. In that way, Nicolas Ghesquière is one of the very few who can have his cake, sell it, and sit back and watch the rest of the market scramble for the crumbs. (source..)
